In the interest of finding the cheapest prices for consumers, Ofgem will now require all energy suppliers to provide details of collective switching deals on their bills.
Information on collective switching deals will be bundled in as part of an existing requirement of Ofgem – their “cheapest tariff message” which requires energy suppliers to inform their customers of their cheapest available deals and how they compare to the customer’s current tariff.
Collective switching schemes work when like-minded individuals collectively select a deal, best suited to their wants and needs, in terms of saving energy, in a cost-effective manner.
“As energy suppliers endeavor to become more transparent to consumers and continually improve their customer service, options like collective switches must be included where they are still available and offer best value to customers” – Hector Grant, Chief Executive, Scottish Energy Association.
We believe this new requirement is a step in the right direction in terms of providing a service, which is in the best interest of the consumer.
