This month, we welcome new member DONG Energy to the Scottish Energy Association. As well as being the UK’s largest offshore wind generator, DONG Energy is a major electricity and gas supplier to UK businesses.
It has been a significant year for DONG Energy, with the inauguration of the company’s eighth offshore wind farm in the UK. This takes the company’s renewable generation to the equivalent of powering almost 2 million UK homes. They also celebrated a milestone in their oil & gas business in February of this year, with the first gas produced from Laggan Tormore.
On the supply side, DONG Energy is also a leading provider of flexible energy solutions to businesses, helping organisations identify innovative ways to manage their consumption optimally, whilst simultaneously helping to balance the electricity grid. As well as intuitive software solution Energy Vision, which takes the effort out of identifying commercially optimal plant operations for businesses, DONG also recently launched its own flexibility scheme aimed at business users, Renewable Balancing Reserve.
DONG Energy recently further demonstrated its commitment to supporting business’ green objectives, with the announcement that it will provide green electricity to businesses for the same price as ‘brown’ energy, by absorbing the associated premium. In this way it is enabling businesses to operate sustainably without commercial disadvantage.
Scottish Energy Association represents a number of the industry’s leading players, assisting all members in offering them an informed voice across the industry on energy matters to legislators, regulators, decision makers and the media.
Among our services, we organise excellent networking events, conferences and supply customised and valuable market intelligence information for all our members. Our plan is to reach more energy professionals who will benefit from these and deliver new services to be introduced by the Scottish Energy Association.
