At the Scottish Energy Association’s 10th conference in 23rd Feb in Glasgow, Chris Stark, Director of Energy and Climate Change, Scottish Government, will be one of our headline speakers. Chris was the principal architect of the draft Scottish Energy Strategy. This landmark document sets out the vision and main priorities and action for the energy sector in Scotland. A key aspect is the whole systems view, so the draft strategy covers energy sources through to end use of electricity, heat and transport.
The draft strategy includes the proposal for 50% of Scotland’s electricity, heat and transport consumption to be supplied by renewable energy sources by 2030. To deliver this, the strategy sets out a stronger emphasis on energy efficiency and smart local energy provision. Alongside the strategy are new proposals for onshore wind policy and a heat & energy efficiency strategy. Taken together, these documents represent a major update of Scottish Government policy on energy.
Chris will present details of the main actions proposed – which will help attendees understand the proposals and respond to the consultation questions.
