It was another exciting and successful year for Scottish Energy Association with new members, excellent events and on-going knowledge sharing and insightful discussion across the industry.

Since rebranding as SEA, we have increased our membership by almost 50%, welcoming various organisations from across the energy supply chain in 2016. While we held our regular Knowledge Exchange Meetings throughout the year, we all hosted larger scale events, such as our Power Scotland Conference (which celebrates its 10th year in 2017 under the new name, Energy Scotland Conference) and the UK Shale Energy Conference. We also partnered with events such as the UK Marine Energy Conference and exhibited at All-Energy for another year running, also hosting a session on policy changes and their impact on the energy industry.

While hosting and attending various events, welcoming new members and strengthening commercial relationships across the supply chain, we also celebrated our first year as Scottish Energy Association, finishing the year with an AGM for our members, followed by a guest speaker, Lord Willie Haughey of City Refrigeration.

On December 15th, our members attended the short AGM, while other delegates enjoyed networking and refreshments, provided by our fantastic hosts at Pinsent Masons in Glasgow. Following the AGM, all delegates were treated to a selection of food and drink before enjoying an insightful speech from our guest speaker, Lord Willie Haughey.

Lord Haughey discussed the history of City Refrigeration before going on to explain their energy policy and their focus on constantly working on and improving this. To conclude his discussion, Lord Haughey emphasised his opinion that a collaborative approach is necessary in working towards a low-carbon economy. Guests enjoyed an extensive Q&A session, before moving on to further informal networking.

We are now looking forward to another successful year, with various exciting events taking place throughout 2017, including our Energy Scotland Conference on 23/2/17 in Glasgow. We’d like to say a massive thank you to friends and members of SEA for a great year and wish you a prosperous 2017!
